INTRODUCTION Lower limb orthotic devices play a vital role in the field of orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation for the use of locomotion. They are given to improve function,  restrict or  enforce motion, or increase support to a part of the body during standing  and walking .  In India, where several adults suffer from the long term effects of childhood poliomyelitis, orthotics are an integral part of the life of persons with disability.
